Thelma Carolyn (Bean) Woodruff

Thelma Carolyn Woodruff, 79, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of St. Charles, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in the comfort of her home.

She was born on October 12, 1944 to the late J.W. and Martha Lois Bean.  She worked for Hopkins County Schools as a cafeteria manager at St. Charles School and Southside Elementary School until her retirement.  She enjoyed attending church, reading, and spending time with her family.  She attended Gilland Ridge Independent General Baptist Church in St. Charles, KY until she became homebound. 

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by Joe Woodruff, her husband of 58 years as well as her son, Danny Woodruff, and brother, Russell “Butch” Bean.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Bill (Sara) Woodruff, granddaughter, Amanda (Christopher) Sarles, grandson, Adam (Kaylee) Woodruff, great granddaughters Karsyn Woodruff, Alyssa Sarles, and Scarlett Sarles and sisters Linda (Rusty) Barnes and Teresa (Terry) Keathley-Hall and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Grove General Baptist Church in St. Charles, KY with Bro. Charles Brooks and Rev. Dennis Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Grove Cemetery in St. Charles, KY.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Reid Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY. 

The pallbearers will be Christopher Sarles, Adam Woodruff, Tommy Woodruff, Mark Woodruff, Doug Royal and Terry Hayes.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Bivins and Rusty Barnes.
