Shirley A Melton

Shirley A. Melton, 87, of Mortons Gap, KY passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

She was born in Earlington, KY on March 7, 1936 to the late Gilbert and Louise Hoover. 

Shirley was the oldest member of of Earlington General Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was active in church and enjoyed sewing and baking.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Melton in 2013 and her son, Barry Melton.

Shirley is survived by daughter, Lisa Melton and her fiancée, Scott Hale; three grandchildren, Layla (James) Smith, Cody (Christinia) Melton, and Brandon (Ashley) Adkins all of Madisonville, KY; six great grandchildren, Bryce Yates, Lucas Smith, Weston Smith, Adalynn Wells, Jaidin Adkins, and Skylyn Melton; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Earlington General Baptist Church in Earlington, KY with Bro. Alan Menser officiating and burial to follow at Flatcreek Cemetery in Mortons Gap, KY.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the church.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hale, Cody Melton, Brandon Adkins, James Smith, Bryce Yates, Trick Watson, Lucas Smith, and Danny Hopper.
