Don Samuel Rickard

Don Samuel Rickard, 77, of Hanson, KY passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY.

 He was born in Greenville, KY on February 10, 1946 to the late George William and Ledda Rickard. 

Don was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the American Legion and VFW 5480. He had served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. Don had retired from CSX Railroad, after thirty-seven years, where he had worked as a conductor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Ann Rickard in 2016; a grandson, Dakota Rickard; and his brothers and sisters.

Don is survived by his wife, Patricia Rickard of Hanson, KY; two sons, Bill Rickard and his wife, Amber, of Henderson, KY and Gene Rickard of Hanson, KY; one stepson, David Schmitt of Nevada; one grandson, Andrew Rickard; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services with military rites will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY with Bro. Dennis Mayfield officiating. 

Visitation will be on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House
