Douglas R. Nichols

Douglas R. Nichols, 71, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.

He was born in Hopkins County, KY on February 19, 1948 to the late Raymond “R.C.” Nichols and Honey Lou Burden Nichols. 

Mr. Nichols was a member of the Assembly of God church; a veteran of the United States Army; and a member of the UMWA.

He had retired from Peabody Mines where he had worked as a coalminer.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Barbara Nichols, of Madisonville, KY; his son, Eric Nichols and his wife, Cassie, of Madisonville, KY; one sister, Denise Nichols of Madisonville, KY; six brothers: Sammy Nichols of Madisonville, KY, Steven Nichols of Russellville, KY, Marshal Nichols of Sullivan, IN, Tony Nichols of Madisonville, KY, Keith Nichols of Madisonville, KY, and Tracy Nichols of Madisonville, KY;  two grandchildren: Erika Mobley and her husband, Mitch, and Hunter Nichols and his wife, Addie; five great grandchildren: Jayden Mobley, Airabella Mobley, Reagan Mobley, Maylie Nichols, and Emberlie Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Chris Manning officiating and burial with military rites to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville, KY. Military rites will be performed by the 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
