Charles Edward Keown, 84, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Baptist Health Madisonville.
He was born in Earlington, KY, on Thursday, April 19, 1934, to the late Edward Bynum Keown and Louise Francis Keown.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Earlington, KY and a veteran of the United States Army.
He retired from Island Creek Coal Company as head of Industrial Engineering.
He loved his family. He enjoyed bird watching, nature, and animals. He loved storytelling, music, playing his guitar, and he was an avid UK fan. In his younger years he loved riding his horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Franklin Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Keown of Madisonville, KY; two daughters: Karen Hober and her husband, Mark, of Madisonville, KY and Kimberly Dugger and her husband, David, of Earlington, KY; one sister, Jennie Keown Stodghill and her husband, Paul, of Madisonville, KY; one brother, William A. Keown and his wife, Jenny, of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren: Kyle Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Rachael Gullette; Lauren Morefield, Maddie Johnson, Allie Johnson, and Allie Hober; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with family officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
