Preacher Leman R. Braden, 97, of Mortons Gap, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. He was born in White City, KY on October 12, 1919 to the late Roscoe Cody and Katie Marie Rogers Braden
He was of the Baptist faith
He had worked as a coal miner for the Pittsburg and Midway mines.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Campbell Braden; his sons: Leman O. Braden and Virgil Leroy Braden; and his daughter, Margaret Marie Payton.
He is survived by his seven children: Vickie Cranor of Nortonville, KY, Brenda Payton of Graham, KY, Janice Hancock of Rockport, IN, Anna Hancock of Mortons Gap, KY, Debbie Guy of Madisonville, KY, Tim Braden of Earlington, KY, and James “Boo” Braden of Nortonville, KY; three sisters: Virginia “Tootsie” Riley of Madisonville, KY, Farleigh Mae Hollenbach of Madisonville, KY and Faye Burden of Madisonville, KY, Twenty-five grandchildren; Forty-nine great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00pm at Reid Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Rev. Autrey Moore officiating and burial to follow at Old Salem Church Cemetery in Mortons Gap, KY.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:00 pm and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Braden’s grandsons.
