Patricia Anne (Fenwick) Sperry

Patricia Anne Fenwick Sperry, 87, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY. She was born in Sturgis, KY on June 10, 1929 to the late John Henry Valentine Fenwick and Edna Marie Griffith Fenwick. 

She had been a member of First United Methodist Church of Hopkinsville, KY, the Kentucky Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma honors sorority, and was a former Earlington City Councilwoman.

 Mrs. Sperry was a 1951 graduate of Western Kentucky University where she obtained her Bachelors Degree, and in 1970, her Masters Degree in Education.

She had been a teacher of English, History, Geography and Civics at South Hopkins High School, where she sponsored Cheerleading. She had also been a former state BETA Club sponsor in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Mrs. Sperry enjoyed knitting and quilting; she was a clothing designer and seamstress. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries, and a lover of all genres of music.  She was a historian of World, US, and Kentucky history, and was very interested in politics

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, John Griffith “Buddy” Fenwick.

Mrs. Sperry is survived by her daughter, Paige Sperry Williams and her husband, Charles, of Hopkinsville, KY; a granddaughter, Whitney Williams Allen; Grandson, Caleb Williams and his wife, Alexandra; two great granddaughters: Charley Jo Allen and Magnolia May Williams; Great Grandson, W. Chandler Allen; a nephew, Thomas Fenwick; a niece Katherine Lynn Fenwick.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church Hopkinsville located at 1305 South Main Street in Hopkinsville, KY. Burial will be private.

Pallbearers will be Kurt Anderson, Steve Dave Ausbrooks, Thomas B. Fenwick, C.T. Humphrey, Walter Whitledge, and Kenneth T. Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sacred ground Sunday school class.

A reception will follow the service in Cornell Hall which is located at the Church.

There will be no visitation prior to services.

Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY is in charge of the arrangements.
